8th Green Flag

We are working towards getting our 8th Green Flag.
The theme for this flag is "Global Citizenship Marine"
All the classes have been working very hard towards this flag and have all put in great efforts to show how important the marine life is to us and the environment.
Over the last number of months we have had some visitors to the school to talk to us about marine life and show us some very interesting things.
Brendan Joyce, A marine biologist brought us some whale bones and shark jaws and showed us one of the smallest organisms in the sea.
Martina Butler, a heritage expert, came with different seaweeds and showed us some interesting things about shells and rockpools on a slideshow.
We are also working on our "Keep the marine clean" project.
We have a beautiful display made by all the children from juniors to 6th class showing some of the creatures we would find in our seas and oceans and we have one section that shows how pollution can affect our marine life.
